According to the Press Trust of India, the inquiry against the juvenile accused in the Delhi gang rape case has been concluded and the verdict of that case has been reserved.

The 23-year-old paramedic student, was gang raped in India’s capital on the night of December 16

The sixth person to be accused and arrested in the horrifying Delhi gang rape was a declared minor by the Juvenile Justice Board in January. The board used his school certificate and verified that he was a minor and was 17 years and six months old ergo rejecting the Delhi police’s plea for further bone test to know the accused’s age.

According to NDTV, the juvenile faces a maximum sentence of three years in a reform facility. However, the police acknowledge him as “an equal participant in the crime” and believes he was the most debauched of the six attackers.

The young paramedic student, a 23-year-old, was gang raped in India’s capital on the night of December 16 in a moving bus. The bus was running without the permission of the authorities. The rapists first attacked the victim and her friend with an iron rod and then gang raped the victim in front of her friend who was in a critical condition.

The victim died on December 29 in a Singapore hospital after days of fighting for survival.

Her death evoked moral awareness in the citizens of India- the extent of this assault caused people to take to streets and protest for the rights of many women who get violated like her.

The country witnessed fiery protests demanding better policing and a review of laws that deal with sexual offences against women.

In March, the parliament of India passed a new law to provide sterner punishment for rape and other sexual crimes against women.
